The 7 main chakras of the body

The Crown chakra –

This chakra is located at the top of the head, it radiates down to between your eyes and then infinitely upward and outward, connecting you to the energy of the rest of the universe. If you believe in loved ones being in spirit, this is where you sense them from. It’s kinda like cosmic downloads come into this area, almost as if your crown chakra is your DMs, or inbox. It is seen as a gorgeous magenta purple colour. The crown chakra represents the ability to be fully connected spiritually. It is associated with higher consciousness and a state of pure being. In my experience, it is the only chakra that can be ‘closed’ or not accessed much at all, without creating physical illness in the body. Curious, ha?

The Third Eye (brow) chakra –

This chakra is located just above the eyes, between your eyes in your forehead, and radiates down into the jaw and mouth, sinuses, ears and up the top of your head. It is seen as a midnight sky blue, or indigo colour. It represents wisdom, imagination, intuition and an ability see where you’re going in life, having a vision of the next few months or years, planning, and the perception of truth in the world. I often say it’s kinda like your window in your home. A lot of people who have issues with this chakra will say they ‘feel lost’ or are ‘stuck’ or cannot ‘see where they are going’ because effectively, their window is so dirty they can’t see through it! Let’s get those biological windows gleaming! 

The Throat chakra –

The throat chakra, otherwise known as Vishuddha which translates to ‘very pure’, represents communication, self-expression, judgement and sometimes anxiety and insecurity. The energy here is seen as a turquoise, a bright, light, quite vivid blue colour. It is concerned with expressing who you TRULY are, even if this is not what you want to see in yourself.

The Heart chakra –

This chakra is located within your heart, and is the centre of love, harmony, peace and compassion. The energy here is seen as green. It includes love for others and love for yourself, which is why this chakra is also associated with health and healing. Family rifts may show up here, heartbreak, and indigestion.  Sometimes, when doing reiki, or meditation people can see a pink colour instead of green. This means the heart is a cool chakra as it’s the only one that can show as two very different colours! 

Solar Plexus –

This chakra starts in the centre of the belly button and extends all the way up to the breastbone (it’s big, right?). The energy here is seen as a mustard yellow colour. This is an important chakra as it’s where your self-confidence, identity and personal power are born. Feelings of personal power, joy, laughter and anger can be associated with the Solar Plexus. It’s also where eating and digestion issues show up as well as anxiety and lack of self belief. We gotta kick that to the curb starting today, right?

The Sacral chakra –

The sacral chakra is located below the belly button and expands down and across to the reproductive organs, but not the external genitals (just all the internal kit really).  The energy here is seen as bright orange. This chakra can reveal issues with a super high libido, or lack of libido, imbalance in sexual activities, self consciousness in sex, it also represents fertility and womens’ periods and also CREATVITY. It can also physically draw attention to liver or kidney issues and gynecological problems e.g. cysts on the ovaries or prostate. That’s right, I love this chakra, because it can have so much going on that really opens up talking therapy. It ultimately allows pleasure and fun. It is concerned with the emotions and represents pleasure, desire, procreation, sexuality and creativity.

The Root chakra (base) –

This chakra is located at the very base of your spine, near your tailbone (coccyx). It’s role is to connect all of your energy with the earth so you feel safe and grounded. It also represents survival, and your survival needs all live here such as shelter (your home feeling safe) and security, (you being free of danger), grieving (losing a loved one) and financial safety too (not being at risk of ‘troubling’ debt. Guess what colour this one is? A dark, fiery, blood red.  Therefore, this is one of the easiest chakras to pick up problems in straight away – the amount of times people have been at risk of being homeless or are in spiralling debt who are STUNNED that I know almost immediately I’ve lost count of. This is because I see the colour and it’s is always one of those key areas. 

By the way – for you travellers out there – it’s a good idea to heal this chakra regularly as it can slowly ebb away energy when you are not fixed to one place (anchored). This is often why people who move somewhere can have a lowering of immunity and start feeling very isolated even though they have friends or are ‘doing the right things’.
